A man was taken into custody after a failed burglary attempt at a Jewish deli in Miami Beach, footage revealed. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Christopher Kory Pike, smashed the establishment’s window before sunrise yesterday, using a surveillance camera as his tool of forced entry, as seen in security camera footage obtained by Local10.

After making his way inside, Pike, who was recently released from jail for a separate incident, appeared to casually pour himself a drink and temper with various items, including a meat ager and a cash drawer. He ultimately focused his attention on the cash register, captured by cameras from Fleisch Classic Jewish Deli on West 41st Street. The break-in resulted in approximately $1,600 worth of damage, reported by WSVN. At one point, he's seen tampering with one of the deli's cameras before confronting Miami Beach Police officers, who arrived quickly on the scene.

Ronald Varga, an employee from a neighboring restaurant, recounted the incident, stating, “I saw the guy breaking the window to my neighbor’s business, and I kept my distance and called 911, and police arrived in seconds,” to WSVN. Varga also managed to capture cell phone footage of Pike standing outside the deli near the aftermath of shattered glass. Miami Beach Police officers, with guns drawn, soon arrived to apprehend Pike at the scene.

Following his capture, Pike was brought before a judge, facing multiple charges including burglary, criminal mischief, resisting officers without violence, and giving a false name. Additionally, Pike has a recent history of legal troubles, having been arrested earlier in the year for an alleged bomb threat at a Publix in Miami Shores, detailed by Local10. He appeared in front of a bond court judge in Miami-Dade County with his bond set at $6,000. "So soon after being released from custody, isn't this a disappointment," Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Victoria Sigler commented, as per WSVN.

While the Fleisch Classic Jewish Deli has temporarily boarded up its window as a result of the incident, normal operations continue. Pike, on the other hand, remains incarcerated pending further legal proceedings.
