A Miami-Dade County barbershop confrontation led to the arrest of Darious Davis, a 48-year-old man accused of gunpoint threats against a barber. According to Local 10 News, the incident occurred on November 25 at Square Biz, Perrine, where Davis allegedly unleashed threats in the presence of children.
Davis, described by deputies as a "known violent offender," was detained following a traffic stop on charges unrelated to the barbershop incident. Records indicate that he was booked into the Metrowest Detention Center on November 28. The charges leveled against him notably include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Court records uncovered by Local 10 News further reveal a history marred with convictions for cocaine possession, armed robbery, and burglary with assault from the '90s, culminating in two separate terms in prison.
Samuel Wilson, the proprietor of Square Biz, recounted to Local 10 News, "He wasn't a man when he had that gun. He slapped me in the head with it, choked me out." Following his arrest, on November 29 and November 30, bond court judges ordered Davis to avoid any contact with Wilson and Square Biz and placed him under house arrest pending release on bail.
According to court documentation, Davis faced several charges from the November 25 incident, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm. El Balad reports that he was allowed to be released on his own recognizance for the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and improper exhibition of a firearm charges, while his bail for the more serious accusations was set at $35,000. Records show that by the following Monday afternoon, Davis managed to post bond.
The legal process is now set to unfold with Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Zachary James presiding over the new cases against Davis, as documented by El Balad.
