An evening blaze Saturday has resulted in the evacuation of a Midtown Atlanta apartment building and displaced one resident. According to a report by FOX 5, fire officials said that the fire was restricted to a single unit within a building located at the corner of 19th and Peachtree Streets. While no injuries were reported from the incident, the evacuation was conducted as a measure of safety for all residents in the proximity.
As the fire department dealt with the conflagration, only one person has been reported as being displaced by the fire, while aid has been extended by the Red Cross. With the flames not having spread beyond the initial apartment, early indications by Channel 2's interview with Atlanta Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Roman confirmed the fire's containment.
Currently, the cause of the fire continues to be a matter under investigation. During the evacuations, fire crews worked methodically to ensure the safety of all involved, quickly bringing the situation under control.
