Milton residents have another chance to declutter their homes and contribute to environmental sustainability with the city's upcoming Electronics Recycling Event. According to the city's announcement, the event is set for Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at Bell Memorial Park. Hosted by the City of Milton, this service provides an opportunity for community members to responsibly dispose of their unwanted electronic devices.
The event is mostly free, with the City of Milton allowing people to drop off a variety of electronic items, including copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines, keyboards, computer mice, and more. According to the official announcement, some small kitchen appliances, vacuums, wires, cables, and personal computers are welcomed at no cost. Additionally, data-sensitive devices like laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets can also be recycled following the R2 Standard.
However, there's a fee for certain items: televisions will cost $20 to recycle (excluding rear projections) and computer monitors are $10 each. Attendees are advised to bring cash for these transactions. The city notes that extremely large items, like full-size electric stoves and mammoth refrigerators, are not accepted, though small items such as air fryers or mini-fridges are acceptable.
The recycling event is part of a broader sustainability initiative by the City of Milton, which also includes glass and cardboard recycling containers on site. Smaller bins for specific item types can be found at City Hall, the Milton Police Station, and Milton City Park and Preserve.
