The attack happened on Sept. 27 in the late afternoon, and weeks later, authorities say the victim is still fighting for his life. Investigators have released photos of a person of interest and are renewing their call for witnesses.
What investigators say
According to KRON4, officers say the aggravated assault occurred on Sept. 27 at about 5:47 PM on the 4600 block of Mission Street in the Mission Terrace neighborhood. Responding officers found the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries, and authorities say the man remains in a coma. Investigators told reporters the attack followed a verbal altercation between the suspect and the victim.

Authorities have classified the case as an aggravated assault, and detectives are continuing to review surveillance footage and witness statements as they work to identify the person pictured.
