Montgomery residents, your holiday cleanup just got a bit easier. Beginning January 3, 2026, the City of Montgomery will start collecting holiday greenery, including Christmas trees, wreaths, and swags. A recent post on the City of Montgomery, Ohio Government's Facebook page states that all of this, plus any remaining yard waste, can be placed at the curb without the usual yard waste sticker.
The city has announced Rumpke will collect all greenery and yard waste on three upcoming Saturdays: January 3, 2026, January 10, and January 17. For an effective pickup, residents are advised to ensure to thoroughly remove all plastic, flocking, tinsel, and decorations from the items. There's also a requirement for all yard waste to be bagged, in case of snow, which would cause the materials to freeze.
For the convenience of the collection teams, the city asks residents to place their waste at the curb on the Friday evening before each scheduled Saturday pickup. This timely placement of waste helps not only in keeping the neighborhoods clean but also in ensuring that the waste is promptly collected.
For more information on waste collection and scheduling, residents can visit the city’s official website or contact the local public works department.
