A motorcyclist died Tuesday morning in a 7-vehicle crash on westbound Loop 202 near the 32nd Street on-ramp in Phoenix. The crash involved a motorcycle and six other vehicles, Fox 10 Phoenix reports.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the motorcyclist was pinned under a van during the collision and was extracted and taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. A woman also involved in the crash was hospitalized with injuries of unknown severity.
The accident closed several lanes, including the 40th Street on-ramp. The freeway reopened just before noon after hours of investigation and cleanup, AZFamily confirmed.
While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, the motorcyclist has not been publicly identified by the authorities, and the extent of the injuries suffered by the woman involved remains undisclosed.
