Members of the Multnomah County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (MCDSA) brought holiday cheer to Randall Children’s Hospital yesterday, surprising young patients with gifts and spreading festive joy. The deputies delivered approximately 100 toys collected through a community toy drive, aiming to brighten the holiday season for children facing serious medical challenges.

The effort, spearheaded by the MCDSA, brought together not only deputies but also residents of Multnomah County, who generously contributed to the toy collection. As MCDSA President, Sergeant Josh Zwick articulated, "Our deputies are excited to make this a tradition," he said in a statement obtained by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office's news site. "The generosity of our community makes a real difference for children and families who are facing incredibly difficult circumstances. A small gift can bring a moment of joy, and that matters."

The donations included new, unwrapped toys, books, and games for children of all ages, from infants to teenagers. Beyond being gifts, they provided a sense of normalcy for young patients spending the holidays in a hospital setting. The toy drive concluded on Monday when deputies personally delivered the items to Randall Children’s Hospital, ensuring each gift reached a child in need.

It's been noted that Randall Children's Hospital excels in providing specialized pediatric care, and the contributions from the MCDSA Toy Drive will play a role in supporting therapeutic activities and comforts throughout the year. "MCSO is committed to supporting families across Multnomah County," Sergeant Zwick added, with the understanding that a hospital stay can be daunting, not just for the patient but the whole family. "These gifts are our way of reminding them that they're not alone," he stated, as per the news release.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Multnomah County Deputy Sheriff’s Association thanked community members and event sponsors, including Pro-Cure Bait Scents, Sandy River Marketing, Target, Walmart, and Fred Meyer, for their support. Organizers noted that the collaboration between community and businesses was key to the event’s success. Media outlets have been provided b-roll footage from the event, courtesy of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, to help share the story of this charitable initiative.
