According to Louisiana State Police Troop I, 61-year-old Kongkham Phommachanh was involved in a serious collision on Louisiana Highway 96 near Louisiana Highway 345. Despite being properly restrained, Phommachanh sustained fatal injuries from the incident that occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. yesterday.

The crash investigation remains underway, as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this fatal mishap. A toxicology sample has been taken from Phommachanh and is in the process of being analyzed to further understand the factors involved.

They stress the significance of not driving while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, actions that can drastically increase the likelihood of life-threatening accidents.
As part of their community outreach, troopers are reminding drivers about the importance of safety precautions, which, although not all crashes can be averted, measures such as these can significantly sway the scales between life and death, if anyone observes hazardous road conditions or behaviors they can report them by calling *LSP (*577) to connect with the Louisiana State Police.
