
New Orleans is facing a gusty day, and the National Weather Service is warning of increased fire danger across Southeast Louisiana. Expect cloudy skies, north winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, and a high around 53°F, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of elevated fire danger on Monday, December 29, due to low humidity and strong winds. Highs will be in the low 50s with some sunshine, then temperatures will drop to around 37 tonight under partly cloudy skies as winds ease but remain gusty.
Residents can expect a sunny respite on Tuesday, with a high of 50 degrees and gusts ticking down a notch to a breezy 25 mph. Come Tuesday night, the sky clears but temperatures will dip once again to 37, with North winds at a calmer 5 to 10 mph pace, as reported by the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from early Monday morning through mid-afternoon. North winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph could make driving difficult, blow around loose objects, break tree limbs, and cause a few power outages.
Winds will die down as the week moves toward New Year’s Day, bringing sunny skies and a warmer high near 66. By Friday, clouds return with a chance of showers, which could make for a wet start to the weekend in New Orleans.
