In a recent incident in Boston, a police detail officer was assaulted after being dragged by a woman's vehicle, which led to her arrest. The confrontation began on the evening of Saturday, December 6, when the officer responded to a motor vehicle accident where one driver was refusing to cooperate, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
The incident occurred at the junction of Beacon Street and Spruce Street. The officer found a parked vehicle that had sustained damage, and when confronted, the driver at fault, later identified as 27-year-old Avagadra Lipson of New York, refused to exchange information and instead attempted to flee the scene. Lipson's actions led to the officer being dragged by the vehicle, but he managed to free himself shortly after. Despite his injuries, described as non-life-threatening, the officer required hospital treatment.
After a description of Lipson and her vehicle was broadcast to other officers, they spotted it moving along Cambridge Street. Officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were able to perform a traffic stop at 3 Center Plaza. Despite resistance from Lipson during the arrest, which included an assault on an officer, she was eventually subdued and handcuffed.
Charges against Lipson include Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and, Motor Vehicle Operator Refuse to Identify Self, Resist Arrest, and Leaving the Scene of Property Damage. She is expected to face these charges in Boston Municipal Court, as per the Boston Police Department.
