In a devastating turn of events, Darci Lambert, 24, and Jorden McGuire, 34, are now facing First Degree Murder charges, alongside two counts of animal cruelty, in the death of their 2-year-old daughter after a dog mauling incident at their Oklahoma City home, as reported by the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office.
The announcement came down from the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office citing Lambert and McGuire's flagrant neglect in the care of their child and their inability to prevent the fatality despite knowledge of the threat posed by the malnourished dog, Oklahoma City police discovered the child on November 18, after they arrived in response to an emergency call and found her already succumbed to injuries from the attack, subsequently, four dogs, three appearing malnourished, were seized from the property along with two bearded dragons.
Oklahoma County District Attorney, Vicki Zemp Behenna, described the situation as "unspeakably tragic," emphasizing Lambert and McGuire's "complete disregard for the health, safety, and welfare of their child," a sentiment echoed by a grim narrative of preventable danger and ultimate loss.
