Senator Mark Mann, a Democrat from Oklahoma City, has clinched the Senate's Legislator of the Year title, awarded by the Kirkpatrick Policy Group (KPG). His recognition comes after a particularly impactful 2025 legislative session focused on improving community and state welfare, which has been both his and the Kirkpatrick Policy Group's main agenda, as reported by the Oklahoma Senate.
"The Kirkpatrick Policy Group identifies and advocates for positions on issues that have a direct, positive impact on our communities and state", Mann said. His efforts in the Senate notably aligned with Kirkpatrick Policy Group's own ambitions, including key areas such as health care access, the arts, and animal welfare policies. Notably, they also championed for the safeguarding of the state's initiative and referendum process. "I'm thankful for this recognition of my work in the legislature on behalf of these important policy goals," Mann told the Oklahoma Senate.
In the scoring by Kirkpatrick Policy Group, Mann and his Senate Democratic Caucus colleagues placed in the top eight positions within the upper chamber. This legislative session marked Mann's inaugural year after winning the Senate District 46 seat earlier in 2025, transitioning from his seven-year tenure on the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education to the state senate, where his advocacy has already left its mark, as reported by the Oklahoma Senate.
With a background as a small business owner, Mann echoes the nonprofit's emphasis on a shared vision of enhancing life quality for Oklahomans, citing "collaboration, respect, education, and stewardship" as key values of the partnership between his office and the Kirkpatrick Policy Group. "We’re grateful for that work and vision, and for this recognition," Mann said, as per the Oklahoma Senate. His appreciation reflects the ongoing synergistic relationship between local policymakers and advocacy groups like Kirkpatrick Policy Group, striving to bring tangible, positive changes to their constituents.
