
An incident late Saturday night in the Lower Valley of the Socorro area has left one person dead and two others injured following a shooting. As reported by KTSM, the event occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, on the 10100 block of Cyan Valley Road. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the casualties and stated that three victims had been swiftly taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Details regarding the conditions of the two surviving victims have not been released, but officials confirmed on Sunday afternoon that one individual succumbed to their injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was initially on the scene to assist the Socorro Police Department; however, the case has now been transferred to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit, who have begun to fully investigate the shooting. While authorities have not yet provided information on the suspect or a potential motive, they have stressed the need to carefully conduct the ongoing investigation.
According to updates from CBS4 Local, deputies responded to the incident at approximately 10:04 p.m. The Sheriff’s Department later reiterated that no further details would be released until the proper time, signifying the seriousness with which this case is being handled.
KVIA reported that the incident took place not far from the El Paso Community College Mission del Paso Campus, adding another layer of community concern to the violent episode.
