Attention Park City residents: your city council is about to have an open seat, and if you meet the requirements, you could be the one to fill it. Following the election of Councilmember Ryan Dickey as Mayor, the city has announced that Dickey is set to resign from his council seat after the December 18 meeting. Park City reports that the City Council will then have 30 calendar days to appoint a new member to serve out the rest of Dickey's term, ending in January 2028.
The process starts with a public application period, which kicks off on December 23, according to Park City. Interested parties can throw their hat in the ring until January 5. But there's a catch: applicants need to have been Park City residents and registered voters for at least a year before they can be appointed. And obviously, you have to live within the city limits.
The City Council's decision-making will happen in the public eye, with candidate interviews scheduled during an open meeting. No dates for those interviews have been set yet, but they've promised at least 14 days' notice before the appointment is made, as required by state law. All of this comes from the official city announcement, so you can trust it's the real deal.
