An Oxford, Mississippi man has been arrested on multiple charges related to child sex crimes. Paul Petach, 57, is facing two counts of enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes, alongside charges of child pornography, and grooming of a child, according to WREG. Oxford Police began their investigation on November 19 after receiving a tip about a possible case of child enticement.
Investigators quickly set to work and, on the following day, they had gathered enough evidence to issue an arrest warrant for Petach. The WAPT reports that after his arrest, a search was conducted at Petach's home where officers seized various electronic and storage devices. It was not immediately clear what led to the tipoff, that sparked the investigation, or how the suspected offenses came to light.
The Oxford Police Department stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office is involved in a digital analysis of the seized evidence, which could potentially bring about additional charges, as indicated by The Oxford Eagle. The local community has been urged to come forward with any information that might be pertinent to the case.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation, which remains active as authorities are continuing to examine the gathered material. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the OPD at 662-232-2400.
