In Goodyear, Arizona, a group of more than 35 members from the PebbleCreek Ladies Who Lunch showed their gratitude towards the local fire department with an act of generosity. According to a recent publication, these women delivered a full lunch spread catered by Barro's Pizza to Goodyear Fire Station 185 and donated boxes of new toys for community children in need as the holiday season approaches.
The event served as a meet-and-greet that allowed the residents to learn more about the fire department's services, upcoming growth, and important safety tips like lithium-ion battery handling. The vice mayor of Goodyear, Wally Campbell, also a PebbleCreek resident, joined this occasion and was acknowledged by the PebbleCreek Ladies Who Lunch for her longstanding service on the City Council. The group, which convenes weekly to support local eateries and partake in communal volunteer work, particularly targets newcomers to the neighborhood to foster a sense of community.
Michele Madoski, a member of the PebbleCreek Ladies Who Lunch, expressed her group's sentiment in a statement captured by the original article: "We’re incredibly grateful for our firefighters and all first responders—their service, their courage, and the safety they bring to our community,” said PCLWL’s Michele Madoski. “Bringing lunch and toys was a small way to show our appreciation and help the Goodyear Firefighters Charities spread joy to local kids." This is not the first time the group has organized such an initiative, indicating a commitment to including service projects in their ongoing activities.
Individuals interested in contributing to the cause can donate new, unwrapped toys at any Goodyear Fire Station between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Furthermore, the Goodyear Fire Charities has set up a donation tent at the Wigwam Resort, located at 300 E. Wigwam Blvd. Litchfield Park, AZ, will be open every Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. until Christmas. The firefighters' commitment to distribute these toys ensures that local children can anticipate a joyful holiday season.
