On Sunday at around 5 a.m., a 35-year-old man was struck while lying on North Nimitz Highway near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Oahu. Emergency medical services transported him to the hospital in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries, according to KITV.
The driver, a 64-year-old man, was traveling eastbound near Lagoon Drive when the collision occurred. Authorities reported that neither drugs, alcohol, nor speed were factors in the crash, as reported by Hawaii News Now.
The uninjured driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the Honolulu Police Department. This is the 82nd traffic death on Oahu this year, up from 54 at the same time last year. The Vehicular Homicide Section is investigating.
