The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the arrest of Corey Matthew Maikranz, a man featured on Pennsylvania’s Top 5 Most Wanted list, by the Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force in Sevierville, Tennessee. Maikranz, 36, was apprehended at a hotel located at 1410 Winfield Dunn Parkway, as reported by WVLT. He faces charges for child rape and other sex offenses involving juvenile victims.
Eastern District of Tennessee U.S. Marshal David Jolley said he was personally disturbed by the crimes, calling them incomprehensible in a statement obtained by WBIR. Maikranz's criminal history includes a guilty plea for aggravated assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child related to an incident in 2016 where he was charged with the severe beating of a three-year-old in Upper Paxton Township, PA.
Jolley added that Maikranz's attempt to flee from justice by hiding in East Tennessee was futile, commending the deputy U.S. Marshals and Pennsylvania State Police for their diligent work. “I would like to commend the deputy U.S. Marshals and the Pennsylvania State Police for their excellent investigative work in tracking down this subject. You can run but you can’t hide. Come here and we will be waiting with handcuffs,” Jolley told WATE, underscoring the resolve of law enforcement to protect society's most vulnerable and fulfill their duties with unyielding determination.
Following his capture, Maikranz was transported to the Sevier County Jail, where he will be held pending extradition back to Pennsylvania.
