Today we pause to honor the thousands of Americans whose lives were taken or forever changed on December 7, 1941. Eighty-four years ago, our nation was thrust into a war that shaped the course of history, and from that tragedy came great courage, sacrifice, and unity, according to the Piedmont Police Department Facebook page.
The men and women who answered the call carried a burden few can truly understand. Their legacy reminds us what service to our country truly means and that freedom is never free, as reported by the Piedmont Police Department.
Today we join the nation in remembering those who fell, those who fought, and those who came home forever changed. May we live in a way that honors them every day. The members of the Piedmont Police Department salute the heroes of Pearl Harbor.
