A shooting in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood has left Bryon Lewis, 36, dead after succumbing to injuries sustained last week, confirmed the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. According to WPXI, Lewis was found shot in the chest around 1 a.m. last Friday on the 400 block of Omega Court. He was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and was then taken to the hospital in critical condition, where, tragically, he later died yesterday.
The circumstances leading to the shooting are still under investigation; however, Pittsburgh police said they believe the incident happened inside a home following some sort of fight. No arrests have been made in relation to the case as the situation continues to unfold. TribLIVE reported that Lewis passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital around 10 p.m., days after the violent encounter that caused critical injuries.
The incident has prompted inquiries from local news, but the response to the shooting from the Pittsburgh police has been limited. According to TribLIVE, a police spokeswoman did not respond to an email today seeking comment on the ongoing investigation.
