Residents of Plaquemines Parish are advised of a temporary pause in local waste services over the New Year’s holiday. The parish government announced that all government buildings, including the Belle Chasse and South Plaquemines compactor sites, will be closed from December 31 through January 2, 2026.
In a Facebook post, the Parish Government stated, “There will be NO garbage pickup on December 31, January 1, or January 2.” Residents can use trash bins placed outside the gates of the Belle Chasse and South Plaquemines compactor sites to dispose of waste during this period. Alternative arrangements will be needed for managing trash while the facilities are closed.
The announcement noted that regular services and facilities will resume on January 5, 2026, with government buildings reopening and the standard garbage collection schedule returning.
