
An 80-year-old man, Roger Margolis, died after being struck by a vehicle while walking outside a crosswalk last Friday at 8:15 p.m. near Northeast Sandy Blvd and Northeast Sandycrest Terrace in Portland's Rose City Park neighborhood. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner said the injuries he sustained proved fatal, according to the City of Portland.
The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team investigated the incident, and the driver, who showed no signs of impairment, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The collision marks another fatal pedestrian accident in Portland this year, as reported by the City of Portland.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating a crash under case number 25-340251. The incident was the 43rd traffic-related death in Portland in 2025 and the 19th pedestrian fatality. Authorities are reviewing the circumstances of the crash, and the city continues to track pedestrian safety and traffic-related incidents, as stated by the City of Portland.
