
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken 36-year-old William Travis Yerby from Poulan, GA into custody on charges including Felony Murder. Yerby is being held in connection with the death of George Christopher Cummings, who was 45. The shooting incident that claimed Cummings's life occurred in a home on Melanie Lane in Poulan.
Yerby now faces serious accusations: Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during Commission of a Felony. The Poulan Police Department had requested the assistance of the GBI after the shooting on Wednesday that led to the victim being rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. According to GBI's press release, the arrest of Yerby took place on Christmas Day.
The case will see further inquiry as an autopsy is scheduled for Cummings at the GBI Central Lab. This is part of the ongoing process to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this event. In the meantime, Yerby remains booked at the Dougherty County Jail by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office.
