Last night at 10:13 P.M., an alert of a possible fire at a condominium on Metropolitan Way brought emergency response into swift action. The Knox County 911 Center received the call, signaling distress within the ordinarily peaceful residential area. According to a social media post from the Knoxville Fire Department - TN, the incident unfolded as a neighbor, upon hearing a loud explosion, investigated and discovered the source of danger: a fire blazing in the garage of an adjacent unit.
The proactive resident, whose identity remains undisclosed, took immediate action. The individual forced open the garage door and, wielding two small fire extinguishers, confronted the flames directly. Their efforts were not in vain—the neighbor successfully quenched the fire, which had begun to consume a car parked within the claustrophobic confines of the garage. This quick thinking and decisive intervention prevented what could have escalated into a more destructive event, potentially compromising the entire structure and safety of the residents within.
The Knoxville Fire Department did not report any injuries or identify the cause of the explosion that led to the fire. An investigation is expected to determine what triggered the incident. Officials have also not released information on the extent of the damage or when residents may be able to return to normal.
