Kenny Jackson Jr., 21, a man reported missing from Acworth, has been identified as the individual whose remains were found in Oglethorpe County, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed. Jackson had been missing since November after failing to return home, prompting an investigation into his whereabouts.
The case came to public attention following Jackson's disappearance on November 19. According to a statement from the Acworth Police Department, he left his home around 2 p.m., which was the last time he was seen. Later that evening, around 7:52 p.m., a Flock camera in Oconee County captured Jackson's vehicle. Initial reports from FOX 5 Atlanta covered sightings and movements prior to his disappearance, but few leads have emerged since.
Authorities have not disclosed details regarding the circumstances of Jackson's remains or the cause of death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) stated that the investigation is ongoing. According to Atlanta News First, Jackson was last seen in Dunwoody, which has been a focus of the investigation.
