Motorists using West Napoleon Avenue will need to take alternate routes next week. A Jefferson Parish announcement states that both eastbound lanes between Transcontinental Drive and the East to West U-turn will be closed. The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, and continue until 5 p.m. on Friday, December 19, to allow crews to complete exploratory sewer valve excavation work, according to Jefferson Parish.
Drivers traveling through the area are advised to use detours by turning left on Transcontinental Drive to Veterans Memorial Boulevard or turning right on Transcontinental Drive to West Metairie Avenue. Officials noted that the work is planned to be completed by December 19, weather permitting.
The sewerage department states that the lane closures are necessary for infrastructure maintenance and has issued an apology for any inconvenience caused to residents and commuters.
