Rock Hill's Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department has earned two prestigious awards, highlighting its dedication to enhancing the community through sports tourism and inclusive programming. The department was celebrated for its economic contributions and programming innovation, as recognized by prominent industry organizations.
The first accolade, the Champion of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism Award for 2025, was bestowed by Sports Destinations International. The honor, specific to the Small Market category, acknowledges the department's remarkable achievement in hosting the 2025 NBPA Top 100 Camp at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center this past June. According to the City of Rock Hill, the event was a boon for the local economy, generating approximately $2.3 million in direct economic impact, and producing over 5,000 hotel room nights, ultimately broadening Rock Hill's appeal as a destination for top-tier sporting events.
In another nod to service excellence, the South Carolina Recreation & Parks Association (SCRPA) awarded the department the 2025 Programming Excellence Award (Population Over 30,000). Recognizing the successful initiatives carried out at Miracle Park, the award highlights the department's commitment to offering inclusive activities that cater to a diverse set of participants. The programming at Miracle Park stood out for its strong partnerships, volunteer engagement, and the tangible impact it has had on the Rock Hill community.
