On a recent Boston night, a display of aggression escalated to a dangerous level with the involvement of a firearm, leading to the arrest of a Roxbury man on a spectrum of charges. According to a police report, officers assigned to District B-2 apprehended Phillip Anderson, 45, after an altercation on Fountain Street where it was alleged that a gun had been brandished.
The incident occurred around 10:20 PM. The Boston Police received a radio call concerning an armed person. Adding to the urgency, dispatch reported that a fight involving two males had broken out and a gun was drawn. As the officers descended on Dabney Street, their eyes caught sight of the suspect trying to blend into a group in front of 80 Dabney Street. Officers, intent on interrupting this theatre of violence, moved in to detain him. During the scuffle to apprehend Anderson, officers reported that he appeared to reach for the firearm concealed in his clothing, a move that turned perilous until he was ultimately handcuffed and the weapon—a Glock 30 S with a defaced serial number—was seized. The gun carried one bullet ready in the chamber, along with seven others in the magazine, ready to emerge at a trigger's pull.
With the assistance of the Boston Police, Anderson now faces multiple firearm-related offenses, his charges read like a repetition of mistakes past: Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License for the fourth time, Carrying a Firearm without a License, also for the fourth time, Possession of a Firearm Without an FID card, Defacement of a Firearm Serial Number, Resist Arrest, and a Firearm Violation with three prior Violent/Drug Crimes. Anderson is scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
