In the spirit of the holiday season, Salt Lake City Police's evidence unit, along with their crime lab and crash analysis & reconstruction team, has taken the initiative to spread cheer among the community's seniors. They partnered with the Salt Lake County Aging Services Giving Tree Program to provide holiday gifts for 20 individuals. This act of kindness reflects the department’s commitment to giving back to the community throughout the year, not just during festive times.
According to a social media post by Salt Lake City Police, this gesture is among numerous other community service activities their members engage in, setting an example of community policing that goes beyond the call of duty. This program, specifically aimed at senior citizens, who often are at risk of feeling isolated during the holiday season, ensures that they are remembered and celebrated.
The chosen recipients were from a wide demographic, each with their own stories and hardships. The Giving Tree Program aims to bring a personal touch to each gift, ensuring that it meets the needs and brings joy to each individual. Local police officers and staff have shown their support by choosing tags from the tree, which represent real individuals with real needs. Then they personally shop for and wrap the gifts to be delivered in time for the holidays.
