San José Police are currently investigating what they believe to be a deliberate act of homicide following a fatal hit-and-run incident on Sunday. The collision, involving an adult female pedestrian, occurred around 7:28 p.m. near Winchester Boulevard and Tisch Way, according to the San José Police Department.
Officers, arriving at the scene, found the woman injured on the roadway, and medical teams swiftly transported her to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Yanette Beas-Solorio, a 34-year-old suspect, was located with the help of license plate recognition and public safety cameras, in addition to witness accounts, and detained roughly 2 miles from the initial site, in the city of Santa Clara. Beas-Solorio has been charged with murder and is currently held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
The motive behind the collision is still under investigation. The San José Police Department's Homicide Unit is diligently working to uncover the circumstances that led to this tragedy. This incident marks the city's 24th homicide of the year. The identity of the victim is yet to be announced by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
