The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a fatal shooting in Bloomingdale, Georgia. Franklin Leonard James Jr., from Savannah, faces charges including Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault and has been booked at the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center to be charged as an adult.
As per the Georgia Bureau of Investigation release, the incident occurred earlier this month, when authorities found 17-year-old Antonio Thornton Jr., from Loganville, dead from a gunshot wound at the Magnolia Lane Apartments in Bloomingdale. James Jr. also faces charges of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is continuing its investigation, and the autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Bloomingdale Police Department or the regional GBI office, including via anonymous tips through phone, online platforms, or the GBI mobile app.
