Two individuals have been hospitalized following a series of events that began with a shooting and culminated in a car crash on Friday afternoon in Knoxville, as confirmed by the local police department.
According to WVLT, the Knoxville Police Department said detectives are still piecing together the shooting and resulting car crash that sent two people to the University of Tennessee Medical Center — one with a gunshot wound and the other injured in the crash. KPD shared the update in a social media post around 5:50 p.m., noting the incident occurred near W. Oldham Avenue and Worth Street. Few additional details about the shooting or the victims have been released.
WATE also provided a brief account, reporting that officers responded to the same location and that the car crash happened after the shooting. This aligns with the limited information KPD has released about the sequence of events.
WBIR reported that KPD said two people were in the car at the time of the crash and were both taken to the hospital, with one injured by gunfire. “Detectives are responding to the scene and leading the investigation, which is in the early stages,” KPD said.
