In an effort to promote road safety and uphold the law, the Socorro Police Department, alongside the Socorro County Compliance Office, recently embarked on a focused operation to track down intoxicated drivers and apprehend those with outstanding warrants. The initiative, which took place in the City of Socorro, saw a larger presence of law enforcement officers patrolling the area to actively locate and arrest individuals violating traffic regulations.

The enforcement action, which transpired on November 26, enabled the Socorro Police Department to successfully apprehend four individuals with outstanding warrants or who have picked up new charges. "During the operation, the Socorro Police Department saturated the City of Socorro with additional officers to locate individuals with outstanding warrants and initiated trafific stops in attempt to locate drivers who were under the influence," stated the Socorro Police Department in a social media post.

As a result of the increased patrols, officers were not solely able to arrest those with existing legal issues, but they also issued 31 traffic citations to drivers committing offenses during the operation. Each person apprehended was subsequently booked on their warrants and new charges at the Socorro County Detention Center, as stated by the Socorro Police Department.
