Film crews are setting their sights on St. Bernard Parish's Bayou Rd for an upcoming movie, leading to a one-day road closure that will surely impact local traffic. According to an announcement posted by the St. Bernard Parish Government on Facebook, "At the Center LLC" will be filming scenes today, and has coordinated the road's temporary shutdown with the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the local Office of Tourism and Film.
The closure, stretching from Fire Station Rd to Florissant Highway, has been scheduled from early dawn at 6 am until the evening around 8 pm. Residents living within the closure's embrace will not be cast away as outsiders during the filming. When the cameras stop rolling, residents needing access to their homes can simply signal the Sheriff at the blockade, and the powers that be will allow passage "as soon as possible."
A film production will bring a day-long closure to a portion of Bayou Road, with officials noting that the schedule was planned to minimize disruption for nearby residents. The temporary setup is part of ongoing film activity throughout Louisiana’s historic and scenic locations. St. Bernard Parish Office of Tourism and Film projects like this highlight the region’s culture while contributing to the local economy, according to the St. Bernard Parish Office's post.
Motorists traveling along Bayou Road during the scheduled closure will need to use alternate routes. Officials advise drivers to follow posted detour signs and plan for possible delays. The temporary closure is in place to accommodate a film production taking place in the area.
