Young minds in St. Charles County are getting a firsthand look at the critical work that powers our emergency response system. Last week, students from the St. Charles County CAPS program had an opportunity to visit Emergency Communications, gaining insight into what it takes to keep the 911 service up and running. The visit, detailed in a post by St. Charles County Missouri - Government, provided a behind-the-scenes experience for the students.

CAPS students observed emergency dispatchers as they handled calls and coordinated responses, and also participated in a training simulation designed to teach them how to receive emergency calls. "During their visit, they learned about the behind-the-scenes operations and support that keep 911 running and serving our community every day," noted the St. Charles County Missouri - Government post.

Officials said the hands-on experience helps students better understand the responsibilities of emergency communications roles and their importance to public safety. "Students observed our dispatchers in action and even had the opportunity to practice taking a simulated call in our training environment!" the county's social media post explained.
