St. Charles Parish residents have an eco-friendly option for disposing of their Christmas trees through a local recycling initiative. According to a recent social media post by the parish, the Christmas Tree Recycling Program collects natural, bare trees to support local marsh restoration, helping reduce holiday waste while benefiting the environment.
The parish specifies that only natural trees, free of decorations, stands, lights, and tinsel, are eligible for the program. Artificial, flocked, or painted trees are not accepted to maintain the quality and safety of materials used in marsh restoration.
Residents can participate via drop-off or curbside pickup, with drop-off available from December 29 through January 14, 2026, at designated locations throughout the parish.
