The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol and Corrections Field Training Officer Program is a nationally accredited training program through the Applied Police Training and Certification. The course was led by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office Training Staff, who are all Master Field Training Officers. This FTO certification follows the national San Jose FTO model, ensuring deputies receive standardized and high-quality training, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
Deputies attending the program completed several hours of classroom instruction along with practical exercises designed to teach current methods of recruit training. The hands-on approach helps prepare deputies to effectively guide and evaluate new officers in the Patrol and Corrections Divisions, as reported by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies who complete this program are now qualified to perform performance evaluations of newly hired or transferred officers within the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office. Additionally, Deputy Jaronni Wilkerson received his second FTO certification as a Patrol FTO, adding to his previous certification as a Corrections FTO.
