St. Charles Parish residents receive water that undergoes a detailed treatment process before reaching their taps. According to a recent social media post on the St. Charles Parish Facebook page, “The St. Charles Parish Water Treatment Plants draw raw water from the Mississippi River and treat it through multiple units designed for reliability and efficiency.”
The post also explained that water operators closely monitor conditions to maintain the purification process. By tracking turbidity levels, they can adjust the clarification process as needed, allowing sediment to settle more effectively and improving water quality before it reaches residents’ taps.
The post also highlighted environmental safeguards in the water treatment process. “Collected sludge is then removed at regular intervals and managed in accordance with the federal Clean Water Act and EPA biosolids regulations, ensuring safe water treatment while protecting local waterways and the community,” the Facebook post stated. These practices help minimize the impact of water treatment byproducts on the local ecosystem.
