St. John Parish residents are reminded to celebrate safely this New Year’s season. Fireworks may be used on New Year’s Eve from dusk until 1:00 a.m. and on New Year’s Day from dusk until 10:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly and enjoy the celebrations responsibly, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Facebook post.
All fireworks should be discharged under the supervision of responsible adults. Anyone under the age of 15 is prohibited from using fireworks without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or another responsible adult. Keeping children safe is a top priority to ensure a fun and accident-free holiday, as reported by the St. John the Baptist Parish.
Residents are also reminded to maintain a safe distance when using fireworks. Fireworks should not be discharged within 500 feet of hospitals, churches, nursing homes, or schools that are occupied. Additionally, fireworks must never be modified or combined with other devices to increase their power or loudness, as per the St. John the Baptist Parish.
