The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office has announced services for fallen Deputy Shaquille Guerin. The community will gather to honor the life and service of Deputy Guerin on Friday, Dec. 12, at Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Avondale, LA. Public visitation will commence at 9 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. According to a post on the St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office page, the community mourns the loss of Deputy Guerin, aged 35, who was killed in Jefferson Parish on Nov. 27 while off-duty.
Deputy Guerin had served with the SJSO Uniform Patrol Division and Detective Bureau for more than eight years and was respected for his dedication to the community. Left to honor his memory are his wife and three children. In light of the tragedy, a fund has been established by the SJSO Employees’ Club. The fund aims to provide financial support to Deputy Guerin's family. Captain Christie Chauvin has been named as the coordinator for the donations. Contributions can be made via Venmo to the account @Sjsoempclub, with the note "Deputy Shaquille Guerin" included for reference. The donation period will remain open through Dec. 19.
Community support has been strong in the wake of the deputy's untimely passing. Sheriff Mike Tregre expressed gratitude on behalf of the SJSO for the "continued prayers and support" from locals and beyond.
