A mother and her daughter were killed following a shooting and house fire in St. Louis. Latasha Brown, 45, and her 9-year-old daughter, Paige Buckner, were found with gunshot wounds inside their home, which caught fire early on Sunday, according to the St. Louis Police Department. Buckner died at a local hospital on the same day, while Brown passed away yesterday.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received a call around 12:10 a.m. regarding the incident in the 5700 block of Floy. Firefighters extinguished the fire and discovered the victims shortly afterward. Homicide detectives, with assistance from the SLMPD Bomb & Arson Unit, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and fire. Both victims were transported to a hospital in critical condition but did not survive.
Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident, working to determine the cause and circumstances of the crime. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
