In a brief chase that ended with a crash into a telephone pole, St. Louis Metropolitan Police apprehended two individuals connected to a carjacking incident. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) took to social media to detail the events that unfolded last Friday, when District 1 officers identified a vehicle reported as carjacked earlier that day. A pursuit ensued, culminating in the 500 block of Bates, where the suspects' vehicle collided with the pole, and both the driver and passenger fled by foot but were soon captured.
The SLMPD's Facebook post described officers recovering two firearms from the scene. Charged in connection with the incident were two adult males, ages 18 and 20. The Police Department's post did not include the names of the accused but confirmed their swift arrest following the short-lived escape attempt. Details regarding the specific charges faced were not immediately released.
Carjackings have become an increasing concern in St. Louis, and police said incidents involving firearms add to public safety challenges.
