SLMPD District 6 officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had recently been stolen in a carjacking. The department stated on a social media post that "Violent crimes have no place in our community." The officers’ patrol took place before snowfall began.
During the response, officers deployed spike strips to safely stop the vehicle. An 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody in connection with the incident. A firearm was recovered during the investigation and removed from circulation.
The operation demonstrates ongoing efforts by the SLMPD to address violent crimes and maintain public safety in the community.
