The City of St. Peters Health Department reports that gray squirrels begin their mating season this month, which can cause changes in their behavior. During this time, squirrels are often more active and move around more in search of food and mates.
Residents may notice increased squirrel activity around homes and bird feeders, which is normal for this season. According to the department's Facebook post, to reduce potential issues around homes, residents may consider temporarily bringing in their bird feeders.
Doing so can help prevent damage or mess while allowing the squirrels to continue their natural activities safely.
