The City of Surprise announced that the Surprise Resource Center and Senior Center will be closed for the holidays from December 24 through December 26. As reported by the City of Surprise, both facilities will reopen on December 29.

The in-person congregate meal program at the Resource Center will offer lunch only from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on December 24. Regular meal services will resume the following Monday.

Surprise, senior residents can order a frozen Christmas Day meal by calling Banner Olive Branch Senior Center at 623-465-6000 by December 23. The Senior Center is located at 13049 N. 103rd Ave. in Sun City.

Joining the fray, the El Mirage Senior Center located at 14010 N. El Mirage Rd., steps into the breach—providing meals for those aged 55 and up at the cost of $3 on December 26. Interested parties should ring them up at 623.876.4232 a day in advance to secure their plate. With the holiday cheer in the air and the need for community ever so crucial, these centers stand as beacons of hope in the otherwise quiet, closed doors of the Surprise Senior Center.
