
A St. Louis man was fatally shot this week in Tower Grove South, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) identified the victim as 38-year-old Kevin Karnes of St. Louis City. He was found with gunshot wounds shortly after 3 p.m. last Thursday, in the 3700 block of Winnebago Street and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency medical response.
Homicide detectives have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the shooting. He faces charges including first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. The investigation remains active, and the SLMPD is asking the public—particularly residents near the 3700 block of Winnebago Street—to provide any information that may assist in the case.
The SLMPD is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Homicide Division at 314-444-5371. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477), with a potential cash reward for information that leads to a felony arrest.
