
A suspect tied to the fatal shooting in Pompano Beach that claimed one life and left another injured was arrested this week, officials report. The Broward Sheriff's Office V.I.P.E.R. unit, specialized in tackling violent crimes, apprehended Clarence Flournory yesterday. According to a statement from BocaNewsNow, Flournory is facing charges including first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a violent career offender.
The shooting incident in question unfolded last Tuesday, Nov. 25, when deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue were dispatched to the 600 block of West Sample Road around 7:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Responders found 52-year-old Tyrone Holton from Deerfield Beach, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Holton was rushed to Broward Health North, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, the Boca Post reported.
During their meticulous investigations into the night's events, BSO Homicide Unit detectives learned of a second victim, Derek Floyd, who had also been struck by gunfire during the altercation. Floyd, fortunately, received timely assistance from a private citizen who conveyed him to a hospital for the necessary treatment of his injuries.
Investigators worked relentlessly to piece together the strands of tragedy and violence, leading them to Clarence Flournory as the primary suspect. Following his arrest on Tuesday, and, in the sobering shadow of confession Flournory now remains in custody at the Broward County Main Jail. "He has since been booked into the Broward County Main Jail and faces severe charges, including first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a violent career offender," BocaNewsNow shared from their findings.
