The two crime scenes were swiftly determined to be related, leading the police to quickly identify and begin to attempt to locate the suspect. While details on the motive are scarce, detectives identified 54-year-old Javier Aragon Ruiz as the suspect in question.

ABC 6 On Your Side reports that Ruiz was apprehended by the Tennessee Highway Patrol in Robertson County, near the Tennessee-Kentucky border, after being spotted driving in the area. The arrest occurred on Saturday morning, a day following the murders in Georgia.

In addition to the double murder charges pending in Gwinnett County, Ruiz faces multiple charges from the Tennessee authorities. He has been charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, possession of a gun under the influence, and being a fugitive from justice. He is currently being held without bond at the Robertson County Jail. The identity of the homicide victims is yet to be released, pending the notification of their next of kin.
