Chaos ensued on Utah's highways as a routine traffic stop escalated into a full-blown pursuit, involving multiple Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) troopers and a suspect who was eventually apprehended. According to KUTV, the incident occurred when a UHP trooper attempted to pull over a vehicle for a violation on I-15 in Davis County. However, the motorist chose to evade instead, prompting the trooper to give chase.
The ensuing pursuit spilled onto I-215, with troopers in hot pursuit of the fleeting vehicle. During the pursuit, near 700 North, a trooper executed a PIT maneuver in a bid to stop the suspect's car. Despite this, the suspect persisted in their flight until another trooper intervened to disable the vehicle, as reported by ABC4. After the vehicle was incapacitated, the suspect attempted an escape on foot but was subsequently detained.
In the course of the pursuit and subsequent apprehension, several troopers and the suspect sustained minor injuries. "A couple troopers also received minor injuries," said Sergeant Mike Alexander with UHP, as obtained by ABC4. The health status of the involved parties indicates that, despite the potential for greater harm in such high-stakes scenarios, the injuries remained negligible.
